PDF layout is not spreadsheet structure
A PDF table can look like rows and columns while storing each word at a separate page coordinate. Merged headings, wrapped descriptions and missing grid lines make automatic extraction unreliable. A visually correct result can still have amounts shifted into the wrong column.
The rebuilt InstantFileTools directory does not currently offer a verified one-click PDF-to-Excel tool. Do not use the legacy converter as evidence that arbitrary financial tables will convert accurately.
Start with selectable text
Try selecting a few words in your PDF reader. If the document contains text, PDF to Word can export a DOCX or plain text through the optional server engine. Check whether the extracted text preserves enough structure for your particular table. This is a text workflow, not a guarantee of spreadsheet columns.
If the page is a scan, run OCR first and verify the recognized values. OCR identifies characters; it does not establish that a number belongs to the correct row.
Create and validate a CSV
Build explicit column headings, one record per row, and quoted fields for values containing commas. Open the file in the CSV editor, correct cells, and export the result. Excel can import CSV, but a CSV does not contain workbook formatting or multiple sheets.
Before using the data, compare row counts, totals, decimal separators, dates and negative amounts with the original. Keep account numbers and other identifiers as text where leading zeros matter. For sensitive records, check the processing notice before choosing any server operation.
