Local merging keeps files on your device

The PDF merger reads your selected documents in the browser and builds the combined output there. Your PDFs never leave your device. PDF-to-Word uses a self-hosted server engine with consent. The site loads application code and may load third-party libraries.

Choose the right operation

Use local merging to combine already prepared PDFs. If you first need to turn a text-based PDF into Word, that is a separate server conversion with an upload consent step. A scanned PDF may need OCR, which offers both local and server choices.

Never infer a privacy promise for the whole site from a single tool. Check the notice on the operation you are about to run, especially for customer, medical, financial or confidential documents.

Verify your merged file

Compare the output page count with the sum of the inputs. Inspect the boundaries between documents and confirm the order. If an input is protected, use its correct password through the unlock tool first. Keep originals until you have reviewed the download.

Browser processing depends on available memory, so a very large group of PDFs may work better in smaller batches. An offline workflow is not guaranteed: libraries and assets may need an initial network download. Test your exact workflow before relying on it without connectivity.
